Kiteboarding without wind…
Hats off to the good folks down at Inverloch Victoria. On a no wind day most kiterboarders would just ask, where’s the esky - these guys ask - how do we create our own wind?
It’s really something that needs to be seen to be believed. Tow kiting at Inverloch - check it out here on youtube.
St Kilda Festival - this weekend
After a 2year break the St Kilda Festival is back on this weekend and Kiteboarding Victoria (KBV) are running a kiting comp on Sunday 11th February.
They will be setting up inside the pier around lunch time and plan for the event to start at 2pm. Whilst it is free to enter you will need to register on the day with Weighty. Adrian Coleman will be in the water shooting for KBV and if you have registered we will send you some sic photos of you riding!

They are working on some great prizes including the first prize of a Playstation Portable for the Mens Freestyle. Other prizes for the ladies division and Big air comp will be announced prior to the event starting.
The format of the comp will be the same as 2005 - a casual freeride where the top ten are picked from the field and then will be narrowed down to a top 3 and top 2 ladies. The standout from both divisions will then be picked. They will then follow this with a Big Air comp.
Given that the Festival is an alcohol free zone the Big Wheel will not be down there with his bar. It also means the judging might be a little sharper! There is lots of action at the festival with heaps of other sports comps and demonstrations and bands playing. Due to this the roads are closed so dont plan to drive. You will need to walk your way through the mayhem to the comp zone.
The forecast is windy so lock it in!
